Welcome to the official website of the APEC Energy Working Group (EWG). This site provides information on the EWG,
its various sub-groups, key initiatives and program of work..
The EWG is a voluntary, regionally-based forum operating under the APEC umbrella with participation by all 21 APEC
economies. Launched in 1990, the EWG helps further APEC goals to facilitate energy-related-trade and investment and
seeks to maximize the energy sector’s contribution to the region’s economic and social well-being, while mitigating the
environmental effects of energy supply and use.
The EWG meets formally twice a year to discuss developments and progress on energy policy issues.
“Our mission is to build the capacity of APEC members to strengthen domestic and regional energy security and lower
the carbon intensity of energy supply and use across the region, facilitated by information and data exchanges, joint
research and development, and open trade and investment.”
The EWG achieves this mission through workshops, seminars, exchanging views, developing best practice guides and
manuals, demonstrations, peer reviews, research, data collection and analysis, and dissemination of information.
